Description

SOoo I created this character like two years ago - last time I applied for this group.

But back then, it was so bad even I wouldn't have let me in.

SO TIME FOR ROUND TWO! I TRIED THIS TIME.

Quote: “Ahhh...do you know of any place I can put my fish?”

   Name: Valerio C. Phineas
        Nickname: Finn
   Age: 24
   Birth Date: Feb. 21
        Star Sign: Pisces
    Height: 5’8
    Weight: 160lbs
   Creature: Syreni (Mermaid)

Males tend to have larger fins than females and it’s not uncommon for them to be brighter in color as well.

Syreni have gills and and fins and a full mertail. Coral-like growths tend to be found on their tails and arms. They have flowing fins instead of hair, and webbed fingers with claws on the tips. These are near the top of the Epherean water’s food chain.

   [Culture]

Syreni tend to enjoy the company of others, so they live together in underwater cities built into coral structures and walls. Men are typically more flamboyant and the women are usually the warriors. In this culture, gold and jewels are prized above all else, and are commonly worn about at all times. If you do not wear them, it is assumed you have nothing, or what you do have is so nice that you’re hiding it, which can make you a target for robberies.

   [On Land]

Syreni do not typically have a very good grasp on magic. Some syreni, the few that were gifted with the ability to manipulate magic more easily, have more or less perfected a type of camouflage to take on a similar form as the species around them. This usually comes in the form of jewelry such as necklaces, or armbands, or more permanent types, such as tattoos. It’s not uncommon for syreni to take their items to these people to have them enchanted in one way or another.

This is also how they perform most trades with the creatures that inhabit the land.

   Dimension: Ephera

There is very little land in this dimension, so the majority of the life there is aquatic. Still there are vast landscapes and underwater forests and mountain ranges, along with deep, dark trenches and creepy creatures you would hope didn’t exist. Occorail, the kingdom of the sea, rules over all creatures underneath from the capital city of Civi-Maris.The capital city is a utopia carved out of a ridiculously large growth of coral.

All syreni fall under the rule of the Occorail Kingdom. As far away one may live from the capital, any being underwater falls under the King and Queen’s territory. This has been law for as long as anyone can remember, however it hasn’t been a widely accepted one. Even if you make your home on land, you still belong to the Kingdom of Occorail. Fins are proof enough, whether you like it or not.

There has been an unordinary amount of chaos going on lately, what with the passing of the Queen. The royal family had two children, however the elder is not of royal blood, and the younger is not yet old enough to rule. The situation seems to be that the elder brother will hold the place as Occorail’s ruler with his fiance until the younger is of age to rule the kingdom on his own. There has been quite of a bit of negative emotions toward this decision. Nobody likes the idea of such an inexperienced and young prince ruling over the ocean one day.

As of late, there have been unsettling rumors of a revolt in the kingdom, and talk of taking down the nobles. Many of wealthy origins have been starting to show signs of worry. Very few have run away from the Kingdom’s capital, some have called for the kingdom to tighten its security and push the commoners away from the castle, building space between them. Yet others choose to believe this is all poppycock and things will continue on as they have been.

   Personality:

   {|Unaware |  Self Absorbed | Prideful | Eccentric | Well Intentioned | Outgoing | Talkative | Curious|}

Finn can be a bit intense to say the least. If you happen to catch his eye, he’ll call you out and strike up conversation as if he’s known you forever. He’ll butt into others conversations without a problem, and has a tendency to overreact to every little thing. Depending on who he’s talking to, it can be extremely charming or annoying.

Finn can’t really do much on his own, but since he was raised with a silver spoon in his mouth, until this point he didn’t really have to. He can be very naive when it comes to the way things work in the ‘real world’. He tends to assume everyone is below him and can be honestly amazed when people show any signs of capability. His cluelessness with how to handle people in social situations can end up with him coming off as quite annoying and self absorbed. Which isn’t wrong, but the problem is that he doesn’t understand this.

Really he means well! Finn wants to help people, and he doesn’t quite realize when he’s starting to act rudely towards others. If you make him aware of it, he’ll get quite embarrassed, and while he’ll get defensive at first, he’ll usually either come back a few hours later and mutter something that vaguely translates to an apology or just try to gift you with things or kind words so he won’t have to actually address the situation.

   History:

Finn was the only child born to an aristocratic family, spending most of his early childhood in the lap of luxury, he never learned how to do much of anything. There were always people to do it all for him. His parents however, were consumed by politics and he rarely got a chance to see him. That was how he lived for much of his early years.

With his lack of supervision, he became a bit of a cross between a curious, and rebellious teenager. He spent a lot of time sneaking off, and would often times get in trouble for it, however the scoldings were of the few times when his parents had their full attention on him. In order to try and straighten him out, they started to fill up his schedule with all sorts of different activities. He would meet with scholars and trainers and sorcerers, all with the purpose to raise him into a capable young man in the absence of his parents.

So he learned many different skills, however he never stuck through to master any of them. Once he knew the basics, his interest in things tended to disappear. Nothing quite captured his attention in the way he would’ve liked it to, and there was always something new to experience waiting in line behind the last. The one thing he did enjoy was photography. It allowed him to capture moments and document whatever he tried without fail.

When Finn grew to be a bit older, he began to see his parents more often again. While it usually was about him making appearances at social gatherings they would host, it was still nice to be acknowledged by them. It was the announcement of the late queen’s death where things began to change. There were rumors circulating around of the Prince taking the throne, nobody was pleased with the direction things seemed to be heading in.

As time went on things only seemed to become more uncomfortable. Some people called for an end to the monarchy. His parents, in fear, decided to send him away. He was shocked and hurt at how quick they were to send him off. He knew they never spent much time with him, but he didn’t expect them to dislike him to such an extent that they would send him away!

As he left, he was given a pouch of coins and an enchanted stone that could hold his belongings, he was instructed not to open it until he was on dry land. The money was to be used to purchase a magic tattoo. He would take on the form most common to what he would see where we was going, a humanesque one. Sadly, he couldn’t take the pain, so it was never completed, therefore it’s not as strong as a finished one and a few fins and gills still show through. The seal breaks easier, so if he gets splashed with water he could start to turn back instead of having to be submerged.

His other instruction, was to head to head to land and find one of his family’s connections that could set him up with clothing and teach him how things like walking worked. Then finally, they would take him to something called the ‘World Train’. For the first few days, he was so bitter that he didn’t touch the enchanted stone to see what his parents offered him, completely out of stubbornness. In the end, curiosity got the best of him and he opened it anyways.

Inside he found an umbrella and a note. A real note. It was on paper and everything! Not like those chiseling stones they had back home. The letter was heartfelt and honest and brought him to tears. (Which isn’t that hard to do, but these were practically sobs)

The next few months, a lovely couple, and friends of his parents, taught him how to walk and how to eat and act the way the land dwellers did. It was so frustrating. Finn hated walking, actually, at first he didn’t even like how it felt to be on land at all! It felt different, the ocean felt warm and comforting, as if it were holding him, and now it just felt weird...he felt sort of naked. Time passed and he improved, far beyond the point he would have normally stopped at if this were just some project to take up time.

When the time came that he was ready to board the train, and he was ready to experience everything that the world had to offer - he walked confidently onto the train. He waved goodbye with tears in his eyes and snot running from his nose.

   Fighting Style

His time learning different types of underwater combat and studying combat styles on land, what he took out of it the most was that he didn’t like getting hurt. If he can, he’d much prefer to keep it safe at whatever distance he can, jabbing with his umbrella and attempting to duck away when he gets the chance, trying to keep a distance and talk it out. When he’s actually expected to fight and things are attacking him, it’s not unlikely that he’ll forget almost everything he knows in the panic and just hide behind his shield, just trying to survive long enough to be saved.

   Physical Traits and Skills

  • Finn is actually relatively strong!

  • He has a basic level of knowledge of many things! (A bit of a jack of all trades)

  • When his tattoos get wet, he will revert back to his true form. He's a real hot shot when underwater.

  • He can breathe underwater and is much more comfortable like this than on land in which he is still a bit shaky.

  • Adaptable

    Physical/Mental Weaknesses
  • Still a bit unstable out of water

  • If he’s caught without his umbrella, it could be a very tricky mess depending on where he is, since it can be extremely inconvenient to well...not have legs on land. In order to change back he would need to be able to dry off.

  • His umbrella is very heavy and slows him down quite a bit.

  • He has almost no magical abilities and can only rely on magic items when it comes to that.

  • Emotionally unstable. It can be very easy to get under his skin, if you turn a cold shoulder to him he'll throw a little fit and try to pretend like it doesn't bother him, but in reality he's very fragile and not used to rejection.

  • Does not handle pressure well.

   Stats:

   Health: 65
   Magic: 35
   Attack: 120
   Defense: 180*
   Speed: 100

*Move half of his defense to speed when he doesn’t have his umbrella.

   Weapon:

He has an umbrella with a fish shaped handle. The whole thing is super heavy and made completely of a rare deep sea metal, known for its durability. It’s super useful as both a device that keeps him dry in the rain, and a weapon/shield. When closed it works great for stabbing, and while open it can easily be used as a shield. It was enchanted though so unless it’s being hit by something it just looks like a fish print umbrella.

   Items:

   * He wears a lot of bling on his person.

   * A stone on a necklace that can hold onto his clothes when he's in his aquatic form so that he won't have to run around naked afterwards.

   *Water proof camera

*A heartfelt letter from his parents

   Likes/Dislikes:

   +Water
   +Sappy Romances
   +Shiny or Pretty things
+Things that he didn't have back home
   +Trying new things

   -People who don’t listen
   -People who don’t like him
   -Horror movies/being scared
   -Surprises
   -Walking

 Misc. Facts

   * Gets bored of things easily.

   * He likes to draw, though he sucks at it. (Like children’s scribbles) It was something he couldn’t do underwater.

   * He likes to log everything he sees that he finds interesting.

   * He has a large match collection. One entire drawer full.

   * Often talks to his fish when he’s alone. When there's no fish he'll talk to himself.

   * He’d like to try flying at some point, though he is sadly unaware that he gets very air sick.

   Pet: Gummy

Silurus: A large catfish with legs. They have a slick pelt(like a beaver) and a scaly underside.

It acts like a dog...from the water! Often times you can find him sitting in the bathtub making whoever enters to do their business...uncomfortable. Or leaving a trail leading under the bed.

   Relationships

--

   RP Sample:

Finn fumbled with the key to his room, jamming it into the lock and twisting it until he heard that relieving ‘CLICK’. He quickly slipped in, slamming the door behind him before heading straight to the bathroom with a small box in his hand. The bathtub was filled to the brim with water and he watched as the strange catfish rose to the top and stuck its face out, resting its head on the rim and causing water to spill over.

Crossing his legs, he sat down on the damp floor and held out the box to show the blank faced fish. “Somebody in town gave it to me today! They’re ‘matches’,” he explained, and paused as if he were waiting for a response. “I think I get how they work, I saw somebody use one earlier.” He opened the box and held out a single match in front of the fish. He then took the match back and tried to imitate the motion he had seen before, however, it didn’t really work the way it did for the person before.

Assuming it was a dud, he shook another from the box, and continued to do so until he had a floor full of matches and a single lit one. It was cool at first, but then he realized - he didn’t know what to do with this. Finn glanced nervously around the room before calling out “UMMM...hey! I could really use some help…! Anyone…?”

Roleplay Methods/Availability

:bulletblue: Lit preferred over script but I'd be willing to do either.

:bulletgreen: Chatrooms are a lot of fun because I enjoy group rp. If the chatrooms here are active I'd be happy to drop in relatively often.

:bulletgreen: Skype is probably the best way to get constant responses out of me.

("aqua-sama" don't judge me I made it like five years ago ; ; )

:bulletgreen: Notes: are also a good option but I’m more likely to get distracted or take longer to reply.

:bulletgreen: Google Docs: are fine by me as well.

:bulletyellow: Timezone is Eastern Time Zone (UTC-05:00)
